Peking Opera: The Legend of Madam White Snake on Saturday October 12, 2019

Experience the delicate dance and music of Chinese opera, feel the love that across all through the ancient love legend of human and fairy!
“The legend of Madam White Snake” is a famous Chinese folk tale, also known as “Xu Xian and Lady White.” The story was formed in the Southern Song dynasty (AC960–1279) or earlier, and became mature and prevalent in the Qing dynasty. It is a model of Chinese folk collective creation. It describes the tortuous love story between the snake immortal and a human.

Celebrate Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month in May on Saturday, May 4th, 2018
They are modern, yet in the traditional form; they are controversial, yet still popular among millions; they were dominantly influential for decades and are still impressive… They are the modern Chinese Opera dramas still loved by thousands. On May 4th (Saturday) the Philadelphia Chinese Opera Society will present at the Philadelphia Free Library a show of the traditional performing art in a bunch of modern dramas which would be different and novel, exciting and charming, attractive and impressive. We will see why they remain popular to millions of Chinese and interesting to all.. The Philadelphia Chinese Opera Society (PCOS) is proud of its contribution to enhancing the quality of life in our communities and raising public awareness and appreciation of Chinese vocal and visual arts over the past decade.
